HOCKEY

HISTORY

Hockey was first played in India.The foundator was Naveen Gali, an Indian men. It was played in the high-society.

Hockey is now very popular in countries like Holland, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Australia and England.

In the present, it's a Olympic sport and there are national and internationa competitions.

The champions of the world are Argentina, in the women category and Australia in the man category.

EQUIPEMENT AND RULES

In the matches, there are a maximum of 11 players in each team. The objective is to push the ball into the porter.

To play hockey you have to buy a stick, wick costs like 150 euros. You also have to buy a glove for the left hand and shins protections..

If you can,it's also better to have special shoes that are similar at the football shoes.

MY FAVOURITE TEAM

My favourite hockey team are the Argentinian women, called "Las Leonas". They've won the world championship a lot of times, and in this team,there is the best hockey player in the world. She's Luciana Aymar, who was born in Rosario (Argentina), she has won a lot of medals in the Olympic Games, in the World Cup and in the Champions Trophy , she plays in the centre.

HOCKEY FOR ME

I started to play hockey because my father is Argentinian and there, all the girls play hockey in the school and also in clubs, it's the typical sport for girls.

Since 2009, I train for two hours every monday and friday plus a match every weekend.

I practice it in Montjuic in a club called Catalonia Hockey Club.

Sometimes, you have to travel to play tournaments around Europe, normally at the end of the season.

I enjoy it because it is a team sport, you meet a lot of people and at the same time, you keep fit.

I will continue playing in the future, perhaps 3 or 4 year more, because I don't want to play it professionally.

Of course, I recommend it!
