Berta Llanas' quotes

The first quote tells us that intelligence isn't about whether you were gifted with it or not, it is a talent which can be developed and improved only by working hard.

This is also applicable to life. If you want to have a resounding success commit to what you love and don't ever let anyone tell you that you are not good enough, because if you want, you can. This quote has had an enormous impact on my life because it has helped me boost my confidence up to a point where I see myself being a scientist as I used to believe I did not have what it takes to be one. Nowadays, not only do I picture myself being a scientific researcher but also I know I will succeed in life because I will put all my efforts to what I love, even though I am far from being a genius.

The second one is about risking in life in order to receive new results no matter the consequences. It is preferable to try and fail rather than never lift a finger and thus never be mistaken. At that point, life becomes tediously easy, dull and monotonous. I personally enjoy following a routine but whenever I am spontaneous I get an adrenaline rush quite rewarding. Although I don't always get the expected results I am fond of breaking the pattern that structures my life.

Excellent texts, Berta! Really well-written and personalised. I really like the way you related the quotes (which are really well-chosen, by the way) to your own experience. Well done!

I totally agree with you about the first quote, and I also agree with what you said about the second one, but i would add that in the second one it also means that you mustn't be afraid of trying new things just so that you don't make any errors, because making errors is a normal part of trying something new and if you don't accept that you will never try anything new.

I strongly agree with both of your quotes, I feel that those quotes are motivating and, actually, very usefull for when you feel depressed, I think that in life you should risk, otherwise you wont get what you want or worse you wont know what you want, so I can definetly relate myself to those quotes.

I strongly agree with both of your quotes, but especialy with the first one.
I have heard the first quote many times and it motivate me so much It shows me that I can arrive wherever I want just being constant in perspiration.

I completely agree with both of your quotes, i really find the first one so uplifting as it's trying to say that you can reach anything you want just with inspiration, working really hard on what goal is. The second one you chose is so true, life is about risking, you will never know if you never try it and if you get wrong the first time what's preventing you to give it another shot?

the first quote it's really inspiring, and these is something we lots of times forget, we blame on people or on us saing we're not enough inteligent, and it's not true you just have to spend more hours. the second there's another quote it explain it really well "if you never try you'll never know"

I really enjoyed these old school genius quotes, classics stay for ever. Persistance is the only media to get to the point's in life you want to.

Really encouraging choice. Ive heard them both many times but they still great. A simple conclusion, fight for your dreams and as lluis B said, you never know if you never try but i'd add: you know what you have got now, you can do two things: stay still and do nothing (and get nothing too) or go for a new challenge and at least try to reach something new, if you dont success it's okay, at least you 've tried, regret for not trying wont chase you forever.

Nice selection of quotes, firts one is famtastic but the second one, apart of being great tells a reality. Everyone has had to make a mistake at some point in their life, and it may not be a bad thing.

@Aleix: Good point! Making mistakes is only natural! We all make them and should learn to accept that!
@Quique: There's an English idiom which sums up what you said in your comment: "nothing ventured, nothing gained".
@Lluís F: "being constant in perspiration" That's funny! Do you mean "keep on sweating non-stop"? :)
@Berta: Nice one!
@Lluís B: I liked your quote. "If you never try, you'll never know". So true!
@Martin: I'm not sure I totally understand what you mean. Persistence and perspiration are not really the same... :(
@Mercè: Really good point! I also find both quotes very encouraging!
@Dani: nicely put!

@Berta LL: Really nice choice of quotes! I definitely agree with both of them, especially taking into account that they were said by people who actually achieved a great deal! :)

I really like Berta's quotes!
I also have an ambition to work as a scientific researcher, and I know for sure that if we keep in mind these quotes and do our best, we will definitely achieve our aim!

I totally agree with both quotes.
If you want to reach a goal you need to work really hard to achieve it. Although it can be really tough, at the end the only thing that matters is the effort you've given to your aim. Even if you look a newspaper, TV, magazines...and you can appreciate that the only people that have succees in life are only the genius ones, behind a genius there's always a lot of hard work.
Finally, it's better failing than not even trying. Because if you try it you have an opportunity of succeeding.
In conclusion, I think that both quotes are inspirational because they are the words that give sense to the tough work I do in my everyday life.
